Frank Massey & Son Ltd is a fourth generation Independent Family Funeral Directors covering Tameside and surrounding areas. Being an Independent Family run business means all our families are cared for in Hyde at our premises looked after by our family.

We have a small, dedicated team ready to care for and support you at your time of need. During this difficult time, we will provide you with help, support and guidance. With our compassion, understanding, and expertise, we will ensure that your loved one is taken care of and remembered by all with love and respect.

Established in Hyde in 1903, Frank Harry Massey began his career as a cabinet maker and setup the Funeral business at no8 Edna Street, Hyde. In the September of 1916 Frank’s son Harry was born. Harry followed his father’s footsteps that was to become a family tradition starting the undertaker’s line within this business. Our 3rd generation came from Harry’s son Alan Ernest Massey JP, who joined his dad on leaving school at the age of 15. Once married with children, they moved to their family home, 73 Mottram Road. This then became the next address of the business. Alan was very proud when his daughter Debbie came working for him at the age of 17, not only making her the 4th generation of the family business but also making her the youngest female funeral director in England. We then moved to our current address, no 49 Mottram Road, Hyde.
